On this Friday, I’d like to once again kindly thank you all for being here.

There are currently 97 people subscribed to the Daily Dose email list, and most editions are opened by about two-thirds of recipients! And I’m happy to say another twenty readers typically view it on the blog —  believe me, it’s not easy getting people to look at a blog these days!

In an internet world where so many of us obsess over numbers — like why our Instagram follower counts aren’t growing exponentially or why “only” 200 people see our social media posts — I’m more concerned with writing words and making images that have deep meanings to myself and to others.

I’m doing it via email and my blog because I don’t want Zuckerberg or anyone else to own my deepest thoughts. I experimented with also putting bits and pieces of the Daily Dose on social media, but in the end I felt that was a distraction from the point.

And most days I receive correspondence from multiple readers about how the photo or the prose (or both) resonated with them personally. That makes me feel like I’m doing something right here, and that I should keep it going.

So I am ecstatic that 100 some-odd wonderful people out there are paying attention to the Daily Dose of the Southwest. I’d also be lying if I said that the past few months haven’t been absolutely bonkers in my personal life.

As such, I’m going to Disneyland with my family next week, and will likely be taking a week-long hiatus from putting out the Daily Dose. I hope this smooth sunset from the waters of Lake Pleasant will hold you over until the next fix.

The Daily Dose will return on Monday, February 24th, and hope you all will still be here for it.

Graciously,

-Jake
