I took this photo one year ago today on Christmas Eve.

This is my favorite mountain, the San Francisco Peaks. This extinct, eroded, evergreen-clad strato-volcano stands stoically over Flagstaff, Arizona.

I spent the first 25 years of my life staring up at these peaks. They symbolize home to me. Even after three major wildfires in the last 15 years — bearing scars of torched trees and washed-away soil — this mountain stands tall and strong and beautiful.

I caught this angle of it just before sunrise, still dusted with snow from a storm a few days prior. The four highest peaks in Arizona are visible. Maybe someday I’ll find myself living at the base of “The Peaks”, at home where I belong the most.

What is the place you call home? Send me a message and let me know if you so desire.

Also, there will be a break from the Daily Dose tomorrow as it is Christmas and I’ll be spending mucho quality time with family. I hope you find yourself exactly where you want to be too.

Happy Holidays,

-Jake
