Ebbs and flows are an inherent part of nature.

It all comes down to energy. Living things expend an incredible amount of energy to survive. Whether a human or a deer or a mountain lion or pine tree or a cactus.

But expending that energy is exhausting. And so we must rest, too. Recover. Recharge. Get ready for the next challenge of survival.

And today, I’m exhausted. The challenges of survival keep coming, and I need to rest. But I can’t just yet, and so I share with you — and remind myself — of an image of rest. Of calm. Of serenity.

Clouds wafting by, resting, recovering, recharging before they must expend energy in the form of an electrical storm.

If you’re like me, in the midst of a storm, surviving but dreaming of the calm, just know the rest will come. Yes, it will come.

Lose yourself for a moment in the calm of the Canyon and the resting clouds before you must keep on surviving. Go with the flow until you reach your well-deserved ebb.

Restlessly,

-Jake
