In this late-in-the-day edition, we’re celebrating today’s rain!

Today brought by far the biggest storm we’ve had all winter here in Arizona. Obviously this is cause to rejoice!

The plants across the state — both down in the desert and up in the forest — certainly need the moisture.

My hikes in the desert lately have revealed most of our flora showing signs of extreme stress due to the drought. This nice, gentle, widespread splash of the “mother rains” can only help.

I also heard a report that Flagstaff received about 12 inches of snow today at Pulliam Airport — good news for the high country.

Of course, one storm alone will not save us from a horrible wildfire season in April, May, and June. But at least our ecosystem will receive a temporary influx of water. It’s also great for the mental health of us humans living here!

By the way, the photo above is NOT from today, but it seemed appropriate. A rainbow in celebration of today’s rain event, originally photographed among the Teddy Bear Chollas of the Hieroglyphic Mountains in February 2017.

Hope this Daily Dose made a good addition to your Friday. Enjoy the weekend, my friends!
