Well, the Daily Dose is back after an unplanned delay.

Forgive me as my life has been a hurried tight-rope-walk of tour-guiding and dad-dutying and husband-dutying just all-around-dutying. And so my Daily-Dose-dutying fell through the cracks. Yes, I know that “dutying” is “not a word” but these things have to start somewhere.

But anyway, how about some pretty flowers? Some pretty flowers attached to an angry-looking cactus with serrated, fish-hook barbs sticking out every which way. Gotta love spring in the desert!

As you must be aware by now…spring this year has not been kind — at least not for wildflowers. While we’ve gotten some decent showers so far in March, it’s way too little and too late for this year’s wildflower crop.

In fact, we should be in the thick of wildflower season here in the Sonoran Desert, and there’s not much outside of the roadside brittlebush and creosote that soak up 10x extra water washing off the highway.

And so we just have to look at pictures from years past, reminisce a bit, and hope for a better showing next year.

To hope, because we always could use a little more of it.
