Happy Friday! We’ll keep this one light and bright with this throwback to the spring of 2017.

If you’re hoping for another Sonoran Desert spring like this in 2025, I’d temper your expectations. The winter of 2016-2017 was one of the wettest in recent memory, and subsequent wildflower show was spectacular. This year we’ve got La Niña conditions in the Pacific stifling the moisture flow.

So we’ll reminisce about years past. I took this on a hike in the Phoenix Sonoran Preserve, a nature conservation area in North Phoenix, not incredibly far from my home. It’s a favorite hiking retreat of mine, and a great place to see wildflowers in years we’re blessed with plenty of precipitation.

A few hot air balloon companies also operate in the area, so spying balloons over the Preserve is common in the cooler months. I was fortunate to capture this one over a hillside bursting with spring green-and-yellow.

That’s today’s Daily Dose, enjoy your weekend!
